Partners: a cost effective way to get very highly specialised skills

Flash (sometimes known as Shockwave) is little piece of technology that can be used in web pages to produce stylish moving images and animations, Indeed, we have one as the header image on our pages, produced for us by Flash designer James Gosling at Schein.

Used judiciously, Flash can provide a liveliness to pages and the files are very small too – they are what are called vector files - so they are nothing like videos that can take a long time to load. Over 98% of all browsers have the Flash player installed so it is also pretty much ubiquitous and they can be used to provide a very attractive user experience.

They do cost a little more to produce than straight images and they should not be over used as they can make pages hard to read and navigate, but used wisely they can be a great asset to any site.
